Panther Wrestling introduces Assistant Coach Derrick BoothJune 26, 2020Panther wrestling would like to introduce Assistant Wrestling Coach Derrick Booth. Booth received his AA from North Idaho College and his Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education from Coker University in Hartsville, South Carolina. Coach Booth is currently pursuing his Masters in Sport and Athletic Administration from Gonzaga University.

Panther Wrestler, Cardionte Wilson, named NJCAA All AmericanMay 29, 2020Cardeionte Wilson of Ellsworth Wrestling finished as an NJCAA All-American this season in the 149-pound weight class, one year after winning the NJCAA 149-pound Championship in 2019.

Panthers bring on Tyson Springer as the new head wrestling coachApril 30, 2020Ellsworth Panthers are excited to welcome Tyson Springer as the new head wrestling coach and Dale Howard Family Activity Center Director. Springer comes to ECC from Hastings College in Hastings, NE, where he served as the head wrestling coach for three seasons.

Panther Wrestling finishes 5th in the NJCAA National TournamentMarch 07, 2020The 2020 NJCAA National Wrestling Tournament has drawn to a close. Ellsworth wrestling finished in Fifth Place under Interim Head Coach Adam Fahs. This is the Panther’s second top five finish in two years. This moved the Panthers into 7th place for All-Time Top Ten finishes in NJCAA history.

ECC wrestling has three champions at the district tournamentFebruary 17, 2020Ellsworth wrestling had a successful day at the Central District Tournament in Estherville on February 16th. Panthers placed second as a team and all 10 wrestlers qualified to advance. Three panther wrestlers were district champions, Scott Cook, Rozell Baker, and Trayvonne Jackson.

The Iowa Community College Athletic Association (ICCAC) has recognized ECC’s Scott Cook, a 141 lbs. Sophomore from New London, WI, as wrestling’s Athlete of the Week.

Panthers take rivalry matchJanuary 24, 2020It wasn’t the finish that raucous Ellsworth Community College crowd wanted, but it was the result they all came for. Darrell Mason ignited the already loud student section with an opening takedown against Iowa Central’s Boone McDermott, but ended up losing 9-2. But the hosting Panthers defended Martin Dittmer Gymnasium in Iowa Falls Wednesday night by a 19-15 count.

Panthers split at NEO DualsJanuary 16, 2020The long winter break ended Friday for the Ellsworth Community College Panther wrestlers. The rust and the long drive to Miami, Okla. led to a 2-2 split in the NJCAA Coaches Duals at Northeast Oklahoma A&M.

Bonus points lift Ellsworth over LakersDecember 11, 2019Ellsworth Community College picked up a big 34-9 win over Iowa Lakes on Wednesday night in front of a home crowd, evening the Panthers dual record to 2-2.

Panther wrestling's Rozell Baker named Athlete of the WeekDecember 11, 2019The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) announced it’s Athlete of the Week for November 18-24. Ellsworth wrestling’s Rozell Baker was one of two wrestling athletes on the list. Baker, a sophomore from Cahokia, IL, went 6-0 for the week, wrestling at 184 lbs. He defeated Iowa Central’s 6th ranked Anthony Johnson. Baker went on to collect five wins at the Lindenwood Open for a tournament championship.

Ellsworth wrestling faces rivals, Iowa CentralNovember 25, 2019Wednesday, the Ellsworth Community College wrestling team traveled to rivals Iowa Central Community College. The dual, which featured two highly ranked squads was won by the Tritons – 28-13. Winning for ECC was Jackson Wenberg at 141, a 9-8 decision. At 165, Mikael Failor pinned his opponent and Rozell Baker earned a 12-1 major decision at 184.

Big time comeback for Ellsworth wrestling at Council BluffsNovember 18, 2019At Iowa Western on Wednesday night, Ellsworth Community College came back to defeat the No. 18 Reivers 23-20. Iowa Western held an 18-0 lead over the No. 5 Panthers before Mikael Failer picked up the win and got ECC on the board. The Panthers also had wins at 174 from Cameron Nesbitt. At 184, Rozell Baker was bit by Josh McFarland which disqualified the Reiver wrestler and cost the hosts a team point. In the final two weights, Trayvonne Jackson (197) and Darrell Mason (285) each picked up pins for the win.

Adam Fahs named Ellsworth Community College’s interim head wrestling coachOctober 23, 2019After eight seasons as Ellsworth Community College Head Wrestling Coach, Cole Spree announced his resignation to start a wrestling program at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa. Taking on the role of interim head coach is Adam Fahs, who has been the Panthers’ assistant coach for three seasons.
