The Ellsworth Panther Wrestling Team capped off the 2015 season at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championship in Des Moines, Iowa. Although they came home with fewer top finishers than they had hoped for, the Panthers had two firsts for the program at this year’s Nationals. For the first time in program history, the Panthers placed two individuals into the National Finals: De’Shun Brown (125) and Matt Hurford (184). With that, Matt Hurford became the first two-time National Finalist in Ellsworth Wrestling history.
This past weekend the Ellsworth wrestling team competed in Worthington, MN, at the NJCAA North Central Regional competition. The Panthers were able to place all 10 wrestlers in the top four spots of their respective weight classes.
The Ellsworth Community College wrestling team hosted Iowa Lakes on Jan. 15, winning the dual match by a score of 31-12. Here, Panther Matt Rodriguez-Kirkland (165) gets the upper hand on Andrew Tate.
The Ellsworth Community College Panther wrestlers took home a big win in their first match at duals today, beating #7 Labette 25-15. This was a rematch from earlier in the year when Labette traveled to ECC and won 20-19.
The Ellsworth Community College Panther wrestling team walked away from the Art Kraft Memorial Tournament, hosted by Triton College in Chicago, IL, with 15 place winners.
After a 20-19 dual setback to Labette Community College the Panther wrestling team tallied 13 place winners this past weekend at the Buena Vista Open tournament.
The Ellsworth Community College wrestling team hosted its first meet of the year on Wednesday, Nov. 19, against Minnesota West. The Panthers won easily by a score of 45-3.
