After a 20-19 dual setback to Labette Community College the Panther wrestling team tallied 13 place winners this past weekend at the Buena Vista Open tournament.

Saidyokub Kakhramanov (141) and Matt Hurford (184) led the charge by winning their semi-final matches. Kakhramanov won his semifinal match by fall over Jesse Etherington of the University of Northern Iowa. Hurford made his way into the finals by a 7-1 decision over Terry Sterling of Midland University. Hurford and Kakhramanov both battled hard in the finals but walked away with silver. Matthew Rodriguez-Kirkland (165) and Isaac Rentas (149) finished third and fourth respectively at 165 and 149 pounds. Sharod Wilson (197) and Jacob Igartua (133) both took fifth in their weight classes.

Other Panthers placing at the meet included Kevin Cooper (149) at 5^th place; Leivon Lewis (157) in 6^th place; Devan Richter (165) in 8^th place; Sadarriss Patterson (174) in 8^th place; Steven Candley (184) in 8^th place; Terry Martin (197) in 6^th place and Dalonte Holland (285) in 8^th place.

The ECC Panthers will be back in competition this Saturday, Dec. 13, at the University of Northern Iowa Open.
