Panther wrestling qualifies 10 for National Tournament

This past weekend the Ellsworth wrestling team competed in Worthington, MN, at the NJCAA North Central Regional competition. The Panthers were able to place all 10 wrestlers in the top four spots of their respective weight classes. Leading the way was sophomore Matt Hurford with his second North Central Regional title in two years. Two other Panther wrestlers also made the championship round in their weight classes: Matthew Rodriguez-Kirkland and Sadarriss Patterson.

The 10 ECC wrestlers finished at the following spots for the tournament: DeShun Brown (125) 3rd; Jacob Igartua (133) 3rd; Said Kakhramanov (141) 4th; Kevin Cooper (149) 3rd; Leivon Lewis (157) 3rd; Matthew Rodriguez-Kirkland (165) 2nd; Sadarriss Patterson (174) 2nd; Matt Hurford (184) 1st; Sharod Wilson (197) 3rd and Dalonte Holland (285) 3rd.

The Panthers will next be on the mat at the National Tournament in Des Moines, IA, on February 27 & 28.
