ECC wrestling crowns six champions

The Ellsworth Community College Panther wrestling team walked away from the Art Kraft Memorial Tournament, hosted by Triton College in Chicago, IL, with 15 place winners.

Eighth-ranked DeShun Brown (125) was awarded the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler Award after one win by technical fall and three major decision wins. Brown defeated fourth-ranked Jake Bellis of Harper College in the finals by a dominant 13-4 major decision. 

Jacob Igartua (133), Leivon Lewis (157), Matthew Rodriguez-Kirkland (165), Devan Richter (165) and Sharod Wilson (197) each claimed champion status in their respective weight classes. Saidyokub Kakhramanov (141), Isaac Rentas (149), Sadarriss Patterson (174), Steven Candley (184), Terry Martin Jr. (197) and Dalonte Holland (285) all took second place honors. Rounding out the Panthers' effort on the day were Jermaine Pryor Jr. (133) at 4thKevin Cooper (149) at 3rd and  Robert Troye (184) at 5th.

The Panthers will be back in competition at the NWCA National Duals in Fort Wayne, IN, following the Winter Break.
