Snow Buries Panthers With Big 2nd Half

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Ellsworth took a late first-half lead against Snow (Utah) JC Saturday afternoon at Cadet Field, but the visitors stormed back with a vengeance, scoring 52 straight points in the final two quarters to post a 69-18 victory.

When Terry Matthews snagged a 39-yard touchdown pass from Deablo McGee in the final minute of the second period it allowed the Panthers to grab an 18-17 advantage at halftime.  But Snow, ranked 4th in the latest NJCAA poll, got things rolling in the final 30 minutes and notched their 6th win without a loss this spring.  The Badgers put up 38 points in the 3rd quarter and tacked on 14 more in the final period.

McGee threw for three scores for ECC, accounting for all of their 18 points.  In addition to the TD toss to Matthews, McGee also hooked up with Jadin Daniels on two TDs, one of them a 69-yarder.  The Panthers QB was 10-for-28 for 220 yards.  He was picked off three times.  Daniels' two catches went for a total of 129 yards and JD Czech caught one pass for 13 yards.  Ellsworth couldn't get much going on the ground.  Their leading rusher was Ja'Ron Early who carried 9 times for 19 yards.

The Panthers go to Louisiana next Saturday to take on Southern Shreveport in an afternoon battle.
