Panther sophomore Giles Cowell was one of seven to wrestle at Saturday’s Battle for the Helmet in Mason City, and one of five to score for Ellsworth Community College. He was also one of only two to win a match for them.

Cowell took third place at 174, reaching the semifinals with a bye and a pin. He fell to the third-place match with a loss, then laid a 25-9 technical fall on Hawkeye Community College’s Austin Pfantz to grab the bronze.

Josh Berlin took sixth at 165 after going 1-2 with a pair of byes. His win was a 10-7 decision over HCC’s Brody Hoyt.
Tyler Roper also finished sixth going 0-2 at 133 with three byes.

Nick Needham (125) and Nicholas Fischer (165) finished eighth. Both went 0-3 on the day.
