Giles Cowell was the only placer for Ellsworth Community College at Saturday's Art Kraft Memorial Tournament in River Grove, Ill. He grabbed second while the rest of the Panthers found limited success.
Cowell dominated his way to the 174-pound finals with a pin over Jayden White of Mott CC in the first round and a technical fall over Southwest Michigan's Riley Hess in the quarterfinals. He then reached the title bout with a major decision against Trevor Streeter of Muskegon. David Cox of Manchester edged Cowell 14-10 for the gold.
The Panthers won just seven other matches, two each by Tyler Roper (133), Nicholas Fischer (157) and Josh Berlin (165) and one by Aiden McFadden (285).
