ECC Wins 5 Matches, But Loses Home Dual

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Ellsworth won 5 matches to 3 wins for Indian Hills, but a pair of forfeits allowed IHCC to escape Dittmer Gym with a 28-17 dual meet victory on Wednesday night.  The 12 points that Ellsworth had to give up for forfeiting at 141 and 149 pounds were the difference in keeping the Panthers from claiming the win.

The meet started at 165 pounds where ECC's Mirzo Khayitov made quick work of his opponent, pinning Weston Milnes-Bowers in 2:25.  The Panthers made it 9-0 when Juan Isiordia took a 10-4 decision.  After Brent Greenfield was blanked 11-0 at 184, the Panthers' Isaiah Laguna registered a late takedown for a 3-2 win over Tonias Bell in the 197 pound bout.  Ellsworth suffered back-to-back pins at 285 and 125 before Kaden Karns picked up his first dual win of the season, using an escape and takedown to defeat Teandre Allen, 7-6.  ECC did not have wrestlers at the next 2 weights and the 12 points allowed Indian Hills to build a 28-14 advantage.  Diego Isiordia capped the night for the Panthers with a hard-fought 11-9 decision at 155.

The Panthers will take part in the Doane Open at Crete, Nebraska, this Saturday.
