COUNCIL BLUFFS, IOWA -- Iowa Western scored the meet's first 20 points and that was enough to hold off Ellsworth CC after an ECC rally in the upper weights for a 26-21 victory in an ICCAC dual on Wednesday.

After falling into an early hole, in large part because of 2 forfeits, the Panthers won 4 of the next 5 matches before a narrow loss in the night's final match allowed the Reivers to post the victory.

The first win for ECC came from Diego Isiordia, an 8-4 decision at 157.  Mirzo Khayitov got a pin at 165 and Brent Greenfield also won by fall at 184.  Isaiah Laguna sustained a hard mat return near the end of his match at 197 that resulted in a disqualification for his Iowa Western opponent that brought the team score to 23-21 in favor of the Reivers.  The deciding bout went to Iowa Western in a 7-6 decision to clinch the win.
