IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- The Ellsworth CC wrestling team made its 2022-23 season debut under first-year head coach Victor Coronado on Thursday night and dropped a 34-21 decision to Labette (Kans.) CC.  The Panthers, however, reeled off 4 straight wins in the 2nd half of the meet, 3 of them pins, in the dual at Dittmer Gym.  And ECC gave up 12 early points with a pair of forfeits.  They trailed 28-0 after five matches before scoring the next 21 points.  A pin for Labette provided the final margin.

Diego Isiordia got the Panthers on the scoreboard with a pin in 2:18 at 165 pounds.  Mirzo Khayitov followed that up with a fall of his own, in 1:29 at 174.  Juan Isiordia grabbed a 9-4 decision at 184 pounds.  And Isaiah Laguna finished the streak with a 1:19 pin in the 197 pound match. 

The Panthers have their first ICCAC dual next Wednesday when they battle Iowa Central CC at home.
