
IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Playing their final home game of the season, the Ellsworth CC Panthers couldn't generate any offense against visiting Independence CC and got blasted by the Pirates, 55-0, at Cadet Field on Saturday.
Independence piled up a 42-0 lead at the half and tacked on a pair of 2nd half TDs while holding the Panthers to just 9 yards of total offense. Ellsworth managed only 15 yards through the air and had a minus-6 yards on the ground as they were limited to 4 first downs.
Quarterback Brycen Davis completed 3-of-15 passes, Alex Clue with 2 catches and Joel Lacy 1. Nathan Castor ran for 23 yards in 7 attempts.
On the defensive side for ECC, Robert Harris intercepted a pass and returned it for 20 yards. The Panthers had 13 1/2 tackles for loss including 2 each for Emonte Neal, Jahlenn Huffman and Mykell Sutton. Emannuel Fandeh, Sutton and Wyatt Hollingsworth all had a sack. Adrian Palos and Neal led in tackles with 8 stops apiece. Huffman had 7 and Caliel Long 6.
The Panthers' final 2 games are on the road in Kansas, at Garden City next Saturday and Butler on Nov. 11.
