Panthers Lose Home Contest to Dodge City

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Ellsworth CC got a long touchdown run from quarterback Brycen Davis for their only score in a 21-7 homecoming loss to Dodge City (Kans.) on Saturday at Cadet Field.  Davis's 68-yard TD scamper came after Dodge City had scored twice in the final period to widen its lead to 21-0.  The lone score prior to the 4th quarter came on a 12-yard TD pass in the opening period.

The visitors got their 2 TDs in the last quarter on a 55-yard interception return and a 6-yard run.  Davis put ECC on the board with his long run and Tucker Clabaugh added the extra point.

Davis was 13-of-27 passing for 110 yards.  He led the Panthers on the ground with 106 yards on 16 carriers.  Dominic McCarren caught 5 passes for 47 yards and Alex Clue had 4 receptions.  Nathan Castor, Nigel Cheeks, Jaali Parker and Kyron Burroughs each had one catch.

Adrian Palos led the tackle chart for Ellsworth with 19 tackles and Jaylon Banks had 8.  Jaheed Morris intercepted a Dodge City pass.  Sacks were recorded by Palos, Wyatt Hollingsworth and Emmanuel Fandeh.

The Panthers outgained Dodge City 247 yards to 219 and ran 55 plays to their opponent's 44.  ECC was 10-16 on 3rd down.

ECC has its 3rd consecutive home game against a Jayhawk Conference foe next Saturday when it hosts Independence (Kans.).
