Iowa Central Blows Out ECC

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Iowa Central CC scored 48 unanswered points in the 1st half and romped to a 62-13 victory over Ellsworth CC at Cadet Field on Saturday.  The contest was the first against a conference foe for both teams.

Tha game started promisingly for the Panthers.  They stopped the initial Tritons drive with an interception by Sean Martin.  Ellsworth's first possession ended in a touchdown to open the scoring.  Tristan McClary capped the drive on an 8-yard quarterback keeper and, after a missed extra point try, the Panthers owned an early 6-0 lead.  But Iowa Central asserted itself after that, putting up 3 1st quarter TDs and tacking on 27 more points in the 2nd period.  Three ECC interceptions helped the visitors 1st half explosion.  Brycen Davis took over at QB for ECC and found Alex Clue on an 11-yard scoring pass at the end of the 1st half to make it 48-13 at intermission.

Iowa Central blocked an Ellsworth punt to begin the 2nd half and recovered it in the end zone and the Tritons added one more touchdown in the 3rd period before a scoreless final quarter.

The Panthers were able to move the ball through the air with Jaali Parker catching 6 passes for 79 yards and Clue snagging 4 for 58 yards and the TD.  But ECC couldn't run the ball against the ICCC defense, finishing with minus-38 yards on the ground.  Iowa Central had 565 yards of total offense to the Panthers' 105.

Ellsworth faces their other conference opponent -- Iowa Western -- next Saturday at home.
