IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Twenty-five Ellsworth CC football players were named to the Spring 2023 Academic All-Region teams announced by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference.  The academic honor lists are made up of the 1st team of student-athletes with grade point averages of 3.5 and above, and the 2nd team of individuals with GPAs between 3.0 and 3.49.  A student-athlete's highest GPA was recognized, either their cumulative GPA or their spring semester only GPA. 

The Ellsworth football players who earned 1st team recognition are Amir Nixon, Cade Walkingstick, Darren Teagle, Isaac Whisenand, Jayden Herbert, John Tonrey, Maurice Vanderwerf, Michael Walker and Xavian Andrews.  On the 2nd team are DeAndre Rutherford, Jaheed Marcus, JaVontre Roldan, Jesael Batres, Keayon Miller, Kevin Louis, KyRee Shirley, Kyandre Anderson-Cobbett, Malachi Jones, Martin Saldana, Mason Walthart, Matthew Almanzar, Raysean Joseph, Roger Zougbara, Troy Werking and Twanyea Smith.

Of those awarded Spring academic honors, seven were repeat selections from the 2022 Fall Academic All-Region teams.  They are Cade Walkingstick, Isaac Whisenand, Maurice Vanderwerf, Michael Walker, Kyandre Anderson-Cobbett, Malachi Jones and Mason Walthart.

ECC had a total of 101 student-athletes on the Spring Academic All-Region teams from 8 different squads.
