Turnovers Hurt ECC in Football Loss at IWCC

COUNCIL BLUFFS, IOWA -- A stout Iowa Western defense forced five Ellworth turnovers and the Reivers used those mistakes to take care of the Panthers in a 64-6 win on Saturday.  The hosts ran away to a 41-0 lead at intermission and handed the Panthers their second loss of the season.

ECC was scoreless until Josh Bauer connected with Tate Lahr on a 65-yard touchdown pass in the third period.  The play capped a six-play, 73-yard drive for the Panthers.  Bauer finished the game 10-of-16 passing for 117 yards and an interception to go along with his scoring toss.  Sean Stephens completed 5-of-12 pass attempts for 38 yards and was picked off twice.

Ellsworth was held to just 33 yards on the ground with David Hall the leading ground-gainer with 28 yards on 5 carries.  Lahr caught one other pass in addition to the TD grab and Malcolm Gille and Deablo McGee each hauled in three passes.

The Panthers go to Miami, OK, to take on Northeastern Oklahoma A&M next Saturday.
