Chambers and Jones earn ICCAC honors

The teamwork of Paris Chambers and Elijah Jones helped the Panthers to a 35-28 overtime victory against Iowa Central last weekend. The two have now been recognized for their efforts with Iowa Community College Athletic Association (ICCAC) Athlete of the Week Honors.

Quarterback Paris Chambers (Mobile, AL) was named Offensive Athlete of the Week. He received this honor three times last year as a freshman. Chambers went 17-25 for 203 yards and four touchdowns against Iowa Central. In overtime he threw to Isaiah Thomas for a 20-yard touchdown pass to end the game. He also added 67 yards running.

Cornerback Elijah Jones (Ft. Myers, FL) was named Defensive Athlete of the Week. Jones finished off Iowa Central's chances of taking the game into double overtime last Saturday when he picked off a pass from the Triton back-up quarterback in overtime. That was Jones' second interception of the game; he also broke up two other Iowa Central passes. Jones had two tackles during the game.
