Melonie Barillas had a quick run to the gold at Saturday's Grand View University Open in Des Moines.

Barillas was the lone placer for the Ellsworth Community College women at the final tournament before the national qualifier. She stopped Friends University's Vanessa Tellez with a 14-4 technical fall before accepting forfeits from Indian Hills' Alycia Perez in the semifinals and from Chasey Karabell, also of Indian Hills, in the final.

Five of the other six Panthers also won at least one match but none placed. Audrie Felkins and Meridian Snitker came closest at 110 and 145 respectively, going 4-2.
Felkins picked up two technical falls and two pins, while Snitker earned three falls and a decision.

Amara Ehsa (110) finished 1-2 with a fall. Julia Kanne (117) ended 1-2 with a pin. Destiny Lofton (131) earned two decisions to finish 2-2. Cambree Howe (160) went 0-2.
