ECC Volleyball Remains Unbeaten

WORTHINGTON, MINNESOTA -- The Ellsworth CC volleyball team ran its season-opening win streak to 8 with a pair of wins Monday night, beating Sisseton-Wahpeton (ND) in 3 sets (25-9, 25-6, 25-16) and Minnesota West 3-1.  The 2nd set loss to Minnesota West, 25-19, was the first set the Panthers have dropped this season.  ECC took the other 3 sets from the hosts, 25-20, 25-20, 26-24.

Against the North Dakota school, ECC had 11 kills from Adriana Ramos, 9 by Ludine Charron, 8 by Ana Clara Cuartero and 7 by Dallymar PanellElitsa Peneva piled up 28 assists for the winners, who served 15 aces.  Cuartero led in aces with 5 and digs with 14.  Gabi Burton added 9 digs.

The Panthers registered 52 kills and a whopping 95 digs in the Minnesota West match.  Cuartero led 3 Ellsworth players with double-digit kills with her 17, Charron adding 15 and Natalie See 12.  Peneva and Panell combined for 48 assists -- 26 for Peneva and 22 for Panell.  Six ECC players had 11 or more digs, led by Panell with 22 and 20 for Charron.  See led in blocks with 4.  It was the 8th consecutive match with 9 or more ace serves for ECC.  Sofia Betteni had 4 of them and Panell 3.

Ellsworth has its first conference test on Wednesday night, at Kirkwood CC.
