Home Campaign Begins With 2 Wins

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- After opening the season with 4 straight wins last weekend, the Ellsworth volleyball team added to that streak with wins against the Clarke U. JV and Riverland (MN) CC on Wednesday night at Dittmer Gym.  The Panthers still haven't lost a set, sweeping Clarke 25-21 25-14, 25-12 and Riverland 25-21, 25-17, 25-18.  ECC had to come from behind in both the 1st and 3rd sets in the match with Clarke.

Three ECC hitters -- Ana Clara Cuartero, Elitsa Peneva and Ludine Charron -- each had 7 kills and Peneva added 17 assists against Clarke..  Cuartero amassed 17 of her team's digs and Charron chipped in 15.  The Panthers served up 12 aces, 3 apiece by Dallymar Panell and Gabi Burton.

Ellsworth hit .269 and had 43 kills in the Riverland match, Charron leading the way at the net with 14 kills and Cuartero adding 12.  Peneva and Panell each spent time at setter and combined for 35 assists, 21 of them by Peneva.  Charron topped the Panthers in aces with 5 and digs with 16 and Cuartero served 4 aces. 

ECC will head to Worthington, Minnesota, next Monday for a triangular against Sisseton-Wahpeton (ND) and Minnesota West.
