ECC Volleyball Earns NJCAA Academic Team of the Year Honor; 5 Players Also Honored for Academics

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- With a team grade point average of 3.04, the Ellsworth Community College volleyball team was named an NJCAA Academic Team of the Year.  And 5 Panther volleyball players earned spots on one of the three All-Academic Teams for their work in the classroom.  Players on the 1st team had GPAs of 4.0, those on the 2nd team had GPAs of 3.8 to 3.99, and 3rd team members were those with GPAs between 3.6 and 3.79.

Sophomore Nuria Bravo Santos is the volleyball player to make the 1st Team, the 2nd straight year that she is on the All-Academic Team.  

On the NJCAA 2nd team are sophomores Yani Diaz, Louise Lion and Katie Winter and freshman Audrey Melson.  Diaz, Lion and Winter are also on the All-Academic Team for the 2nd consecutive year.

This is the 3rd year in a row that the ECC volleyball team was named an NJCAA Academic Team of the Year.

Ellsworth Community College saw its baseball, men's basketball, softball, volleyball and women's wrestling teams all named Academic Teams of the Year and 37 ECC student-athletes made one of the NJCAA All-Academic Teams.
