Panther Volleyball Takes Down Minnesota West

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Forty-eight hours after suffering a tough home loss, the Ellsworth CC volleyball team came back to knock off Minnesota West in straight sets at Dittmer Gym on Friday night.  In the battle between two evenly-matched squads, ECC came out on top, 26-24, 25-23 and 25-22, to square their season record at 4-4.

The Panthers got a strong performance at the net from sophomore Louise Lion, who pounded 20 kills and added 15 digs.  Ellsworth had a season-best 67 digs, led by 19 from Alondra AcevedoYanilette Diaz (11) and Jada Smith (10) joined Lion and Acevedo with double-digit totals in digs.  Setter Nuria Bravo Santos recorded 36 assists and served two aces.

ECC will try to go over the .500 mark next Wednesday when they travel to Creston to take on Southwestern CC in an ICCAC match.
