Moving On - Panther Volleyball Takes Out SWCC

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- The Ellsworth CC volleyball team advanced in the Region XI-A postseason tournament Friday night by taking care of Southwestern CC, 3-1, at Dittmer Gym.  Playing their first postseason test, the Panthers avenged a 3-1 loss to SWCC just five days before and moved on to face Iowa Central CC Sunday.

ECC took the first two sets from the visiting Spartans, 25-19 and 27-25.  After dropping set three, 25-15, the Panthers closed out SWCC with a 25-22 decision in the 4th set.

Along with posting a team season-high 87 digs, Ellsworth was led at the net by Gabi Damiano, who had a season-best 21 kills and hit .302.  Damiano added 14 digs, one of four Panthers with double-digit dig totals.  Kaitlyn Baer led the way with 24, Haley Forge had 14, to go along with the same number of kills, and Vitoria Kazanovski chipped in 13 digs and 45 assists, her highest assist total of the season.  Kazanovski and Baer each served three aces and Meghan VanDePol had nine digs.

Ellsworth and Iowa Cenetral will meet for the second time this year in Fort Dodge on Sunday,  The Tritons won the regular-season matchup between the two.  First serve is at 1:00.
