Hawkeye Stops Panthers

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Hawkeye CC won a tight first set, then finished off the 3-0 win against the ECC volleyball team in ICCAC action in Dittmer Gym Tuesday night.  The final was 25-22 in set-one, 25-15 in the middle set and 25-16 in the last set.  Ellsworth had more kills than the Red Tails in the third set, but nine errors hurt the Panthers' chance of extending the match.

Of ECC's 31 kills for the night, Haley Forge, Gabi Damiano and Jade Galligo had eight apiece.  Galligo hit .389.  Vitoria Kazanovski dished out 26 assists.  Damiano led the squad with 13 digs, while Forge had nine and Kazanovski eight.  Kaitlyn Baer served two aces.  The Panthers (3-6) are tied for 6th in NJCAA Division II with their 68 ace serves in nine matches.

The defeat ended Ellsworth's three-match victory streak.  They will try to get back on the winning track in a match at Kirkwood CC on Thursday, and then will be idle until hosting NIACC Feb. 24.
