Ellsworth Community College hosted No. 14 DMACC and dropped a 63-42 decision.
The Bears opened the game on a 7-0 run before Asia Beale recorded the first points for the Panthers. A three-ball from Claudia Sanz Dorange cut the difference to four (11-7) in the first quarter as ECC (6-6, 2-4) trailed 14-9 after the first 10 minutes.
A freebie and another Dorange basket cut the difference to two and Dorange evened the game at 14-all in the second quarter. DMACC (13-0, 5-0) hit one of their four triples to go back on top, but could not pull away from the pesky Panthers. With 3:35 remaining in the half, it was a two point contest (23-21) when the Bears went on an 8-0 run and were on top by double figures for the first time. Rebekka Holm hit a long ball with 25 seconds left to make it a 31-24 difference at the break.
The third quarter DMACC really pulled away and were on top by 15 heading into the final period. The Bears continued to build on that difference and reached a 20-point different late in the contest.
Neither team shot well, with DMACC making just 29 percent of their field goals and were four of 26 from the floor. The Panthers shot 28 percent and were four of 22 from beyond the arc. Despite being at a height disadvantage, ECC did win the rebound battle with 47 total boards. Beale finished with a double-double of 12 rebounds and 11 points. Dorange led the hosts scoring with 14 points.
