Ellsworth Community College did not have their best game by any means, but they were able to tally their sixth straight win.
The Panthers shot sub 40 percent and were six of 24 from downtown in the 60-50 victory on the road at Iowa Western Community College.
ECC (20-3, 11-2) never trailed in the 40 minutes of game time, and the lead was 19-6 after the first quarter. With seven and a half minutes to go in the first half, the Panthers went on a 9-0 run to extend the advantage to 28-9. The Reivers (13-12, 6-7) did outscore ECC at the end of the half 9-4, but the visitors held a 32-18 lead at the break.
Several times in the second half Iowa Western would cut the deficit to single digits, the first time with 33.6 seconds left in the third stanza (43-38). The closest the hosts would get would be 43-37 in the fourth. Laia Santanach was cold throughout the first three quarters from downtown, but hit back-to-back triples to extend the difference to 51-37. The Panthers were just 12 of 22 from the free throw in the game, but were three of four in the final minutes of the game to ice it.
While the rest of the team was cold, Marin Agustsdottir was hot from the floor. She was three of four from beyond the arc and 7-9 from the floor to finish with 20 points. She was the lone ECC player in double figures.
