In two games against eighth-place Iowa Lakes Community College, Ellsworth Community College has scored a total of 145 points. To get the season sweep, the Panthers knocked off the Lakers 73-49.
The hosts blew the game wide open in the opening half. ECC (19-3, 10-2) led 19-8 after the first 10 minutes and then outscored Iowa Lakes 22-8 in the second quarter to lead 41-16 at the half. The second half was more competitive, but the gap was so large it didn't really matter.
The Panthers didn't have their best shooting night of the season, making 39 percent of their field goes, but they did drain seven triples and really made hay at the free throw line, going 20 of 23. The Lakers (10-14, 4-8) were cold from downtown, going 0-10. Iowa Lakes also didn't have many second chance opportunities, recorded just four offensive rebounds.
ECC had a balanced scoring attack with three in double-figures. Ella Sharar led with 14 points and eight rebounds. Marin Agustsdottir was perfect from the line, going 7-7 for 12 points and KeyKey Jefferson finished with 11.
There are six ICCAC games left in the regular season with the Panthers holding a three and a half game lead over third-place. Northeast and DMACC are tied at 7-4 in the league.
