ECC Women and Kirkwood Will Meet Again

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA -- The Ellsworth women's basketball team will get another chance to upset Kirkwood CC, the nation's 2nd-ranked team, when the teams begin postseason play against one another on Saturday afternoon.  That meeting will take place just 3 days after the Eagles downed ECC, 66-51, in the two squads' regular-season finale Wednesday night.

Despite losing by 15 points, the Panthers were much more competitive than in the first matchup with Kirkwood, won by the Eagles, 80-38.  Ellsworth was hurt once again by turnovers, they had 26, and shot only 33 percent, although they had assists on 14 of their 16 made baskets.  And ECC connected on 8-of-18 3-pointers.

Marin Lind Agustsdottir and Favour Nmecha Anyaele each scored 12 points for the Panthers.  Laia Santanach added 9 points on a trio of 3s.  Agustsdottir and Ellyse Ball both nailed a pair of 3s.

No. 8 seed ECC and top-seeded Kirkwood will face off in a Region XI-A contest Saturday at 1pm.  The Panthers will take an 11-18 record into that tilt.  They finished the conference schedule at 6-14.
