Ellsworth Women Finish Sweep of MCC

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- The Ellsworth women's basketball team raced away to a huge halftime lead and polished off Marshalltown CC, 82-65, in conference play on Saturday afternoon at Dittmer Gym.  The victory was the 10th of the season for ECC and their 5th in the league, including a season sweep of their IVCCD rivals.

The Panthers piled up 32 1st-quarter points and built a 54-30 advantage at the mid-point of the contest.  Ellsworth shot 52 percent from the field for the game while holding Marshalltown to just under 30 percent.  They connected on a season-best 10 3-pointers and owned a 45-26 rebounding bulge.  Favour Nmecha Anyaele led ECC on the glass with 17 boards and Taylor Ross added 10 to go along with her game-high 27 points.  Laia Santanach poured in 17 points and had half of ECC's 10 made 3s.  Marin Lind Agustsdottir scored 15 points and had 5 assists.  Ellyse Ball provided valuable minutes off the bench with 9 points and 6 rebounds.  Anyaele added 8 points to her monster rebound total.

Ellsworth has a chance to avenge a December loss to Southeastern when the Panthers host SCC on Wednesday night.
