ECC Women Defeated by NIACC

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- The NIACC women's basketball team completed a regular-season sweep of Ellsworth, defeating the Panthers, 86-65, Wednesday at Dittmer Gym.  NIACC had won by a nearly identical score, 88-65, on Jan. 3 in Mason City.

The Trojans opened up a 5-point lead after one quarter in the rematch and led by 9 points at the break.  A 27-point 3rd period allowed NIACC to pull away.  The Panthers turned it over 30 times and the Trojans had 20 more shot attempts than ECC.

Taylor Ross led the Ellsworth scoring and rebounding with 19 and 8, respectively.  Favour Nmecha Anyaele scored a dozen points and blocked 3 shots.  Marin Lind Agustsdottir handed out 7 assists.  Laia Santanach, a freshman from Spain, saw her first game action of the season for the Panthers and tallied 8 points while nailing a pair of 3-pointers.

Ellsworth plays at DMACC on Saturday.
