NORFOLK, NEBRASKA -- The Ellsworth CC women's basketball team went on the road Wednesday and dropped a 66-58 decision to Northeast (Neb.) CC at the Cox Activities Center. The Panthers came up short in their bid to put together back-to-back league wins, coming off a victory against Iowa Lakes last weekend.
ECC battled back from a 12-point deficit in the 1st half to get to within 5 points at the half. They got the deficit to a single point early in the 3rd quarter, but couldn't get even with the home team.
Ingrid Martinez Guillen paced Ellsworth with 22 points. Taylor Ross provided a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. They were the only Panthers to reach double-digits in scoring. Favour Nmecha Anyaele grabbed 15 rebounds.
ECC faces a tough test on Saturday when they host No. 4-ranked Kirkwood, currently tied for 2nd in the ICCAC standings.
