Ellsworth Women End Skid With Road Win

ESTHERVILLE, IOWA -- The Ellsworth CC women's basketball team returned to the win column Wednesday night with a hard-fought 59-57 victory at Iowa Lakes.  A Taylor Ross field goal in the final seconds broke a 57-all tie and allowed ECC to snap a 5-game losing streak.

The Panthers placed 4 starters in double figures with Ross leading the way with 13 points.  Marin Lind Agustsdottir added 12 points, Ellyse Ball had 11 and Ingrid Martinez Guillen 10, including a big 3-pointer late in the game that gave ECC the lead.  The lone Panther starter not in double digits in scoring was Favour Nmecha Anyaele but she supplemented her 8 points with a game-high 14 rebounds.  Anyaele led Ellsworth to a 43-25 advantage on the glass.  The Panthers were able to cut their turnover total in half from previous games and that helped in getting their 2nd conference win.  The 14 miscues were the 2nd-lowest of the season.

The game was close throughout with ECC holding quarter leads of 17-11, 34-31 and 47-44.

Ellsworth doesn't play again until a trip to Northeast (Neb.) CC on Jan. 17.
