In Return to Action, ECC Women Lose at NIACC

MASON CITY, IOWA -- In their first game in 18 days, the Ellsworth women's basketball team couldn't overcome a rash of turnovers and lost at NIACC, 88-65, on Wednesday night.   The Panthers turned it over 32 times and gave up 22 offensive rebounds to the Trojans and ECC fell despite shooting just over 50 percent from the floor.

ECC didn't show any signs of rust in the first 10 minutes, opening up a 23-17 advantage after one quarter.  But the Trojans took control in the middle two periods, outscoring Ellsworth, 57-18.  The largest lead for NIACC was 33 points at the end of the 3rd quarter.  NIACC had 34 more shot attempts than ECC as well as 21 fewer turnovers than the visitors.

Taylor Ross topped the Panthers in scoring with 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting and she also pulled down 9 rebounds.  Favour Nmecha Anyaele produced a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.  Ellyse Ball chipped in 9 points and 5 rebounds and Marin Lind Agustsdottir scored 8 with 6 assists.

ECC hosts DMACC at Dittmer Gym on Saturday afternoon.
