IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- The ECC women's basketball team will go into this Saturday's home matchup with Southwestern CC looking to get back to the .500 mark before the mid-season break after the Panthers dropped to 6-7 overall with a 69-58 defeat at the hands of Iowa Western Wednesday at Dittmer Gym. ECC is 6-7 for the season.
Even though they couldn't overcome a 15-point deficit going in the final quarter, Ellsworth was much more competitive with IWCC than they had been in a number of years. In each of the past 3 seasons, Iowa Western had swept the regular season series from the Panthers, winning those 6 games by an average of over 50 points. This time, ECC trailed by only 6 at intermission, 38-32. The visitors used a 22-13 advantage to open up a 60-45 lead after 3 periods and held off the Panthers in the 4th quarter.
Marin Lind Agustsdottir pumped in 22 points to lead the Ellsworth scoring. She drained 4 threes and had 4 assists. Ellyse Ball scored 14 and Taylor Ross 10 to go along with 13 rebounds.
The Saturday contest with Southwestern will be the final one in December for ECC.
