WEST BURLINGTON, IOWA -- Two late shots -- one that would have tied the game and the other that could have been the game-winner -- were off the mark and Ellsworth CC lost a conference game on the road to Southeastern CC, 49-47, on Saturday. The Panthers' Taylor Ross made a free throw with 38 seconds to play to bring ECC to within 2 points. After a missed field goal attempt by the Blackhawks, Ellsworth failed to connect on a 3-point attempt and a rebound shot and came up just short in their 4th quarter comeback try.
The Panthers trailed 40-31 in the final period, but nailed 3 threes to eventually make it a one-possession game.
Marin Lind Agustsdottir paced the ECC scoring with 18 points. Favour Nmecha Anyaele joined her in double figures with 12 points and she added 7 rebound and 4 blocked shots. Ross had a team-high 12 rebounds.
Ellsworth, now 6-6 for the season, has 2 home games this week: against Iowa Western Wednesday and Southwestern on Saturday.
