ECC Women Use Hot Shooting for Victory

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Bolstered by their best shooting night of the season, the Ellsworth women's basketball team reached the .500 mark with an 83-51 win against the William Penn junior varsity at Dittmer Gymnasium Tuesday night.

The Panthers, now 3-3 for the year, made 53.8 percent of their field goal tries (28-of-52), 9-of-20 3-pointers and 18-of-27 free throws and had 21 assists on the 28 made baskets.

Ellsworth got off to a fast start, leading 26-9 after 10 minutes.  They upped the margin to 29 points by halftime and led by 30 going into the final period.

Marin Lind Agustsdottir poured in 27 points to lead ECC (8-13 FG, 3 3s, 8-9 FTS), and Ingrid Martinez Guillen added 16 points, a team-best 10 assists and also connected on 3 3s.  Cailin Reimer came off the bench to nail a trio of 3-pointers and scored 12 points.  Fabiana Nieves Martinez grabbed 20 rebounds and scored 6 points.  Ellyse Ball scored 11 and Taylor Ross contributed 9 points and 8 boards.

The Panthers will play 2 games in Virginia, Minn. this weekend, taking on Central Lakes College Friday and Minnesota North-Mesabi Range Saturday.
