Panther Women Defeated at Home

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- The DMACC women's basketball team pulled away in the second half to hand the Ellsworth women a 70-51 loss at Dittmer Gym Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers led 15-14 after the opening period before DMACC recovered to take a 33-25 halftime advantage.  ECC trailed by 12 points after the third quarter, then was outscored 18-11 over the final 10 minutes.

Shamika Maria was one of 3 Panthers in double figures in scoring with a team-high 14 points and she accounted for 4 of ECC's 6 3-pointers.  Andrea Aragon Garcia added 13 points and Key'Lajaha Jefferson Putman had 10.  Ashjahnelle Wilson led in rebounds with 7 and Ingrid Martinez Guillen had 4 assists and 2 steals.  The Panthers did have their best free throw shooting game of the season, making 11 of their 12 foul shots.

Ellsworth ends the home schedule on Wednesday night against Marshalltown CC, then plays the final regular season contest at NIACC on Mar. 1.
