Iowa Lakes Completes Sweep of ECC Women

ESTHERVILLE, IOWA -- Iowa Lakes raced away to a big halftime lead and got its 2nd win over the Ellsworth women's basketball team this month, knocking off the Panthers, 84-50, on Wednesday night.

The Lakers won the earlier matchup, in Iowa Falls, by 8 points, but this game was really never that close, Iowa Lakes opening a 51-24 lead at intermission.  The Panthers matched their season-low in turnovers with 10, the same number they had in the first game with the Lakers, but couldn't take advantage of the increased number of field goal attempts, shooting just 31 percent for the night.  They did make 7 3-pointers, including 3 by Ingrid Martinez Guillen and a pair by Key'Lajaha Jefferson Putman.  Jefferson Putman led ECC in scoring with 16 points and she also posted 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.  She was joined in double figures by Martinez Guillen with 11 points and Arleen Chanez with 10.  Chanez led in rebounds with 7.  Andrea Aragon Garcia scored 9 points.

Ellsworth has its next 2 games at home, against Iowa Central Saturday and Iowa Western next Wednesday.
