IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Despite connecting on a season-high 11 3-pointers, the Ellsworth women's basketball team was defeated by Northeast (Neb.) CC, 87-61, Saturday at Dittmer Gym.
Key'Lajaha Jefferson Putman poured in a season-best 28 points for the Panthers and made 6 of her 9 shots from behind the arc. ECC was 11-of-25 in 3-point tries and their second-leading scorer for the game, Andrea Aragon Garcia hit both of her attempts from distance and scored 12 points.
The Panthers were within 24-18 after the opening quarter, but found themselves trailing 49-30 at the break.
Ashjahnelle Wilson led Ellsworth on the glass with 8 rebounds, one more than Shamika Maria. Ingrid Martinez Guillen dished out 5 assists.
Next up for ECC is a conference game at DMACC next Saturday.
