CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA -- The Ellsworth CC women's basketball team ran into a buzzsaw Wednesday night in the form of Kirkwood CC, the third-ranked team in the country.  The Eagles ran away to a 34-15 lead after 10 minutes and continued to build the advantage after that in routing the Panthers, 104-36.  After scoring 15 first-period points, the Panthers could only manage 21 points after that in falling to the perennial power.

Shamika Maria was the lone ECC player to reach double figures with 12 points.  Arleen Chanez scored 8 and grabbed 4 rebounds.

The Panthers return home to battle Northeast (Neb.) on Saturday afternoon at Dittmer Gym.
