MARSHALLTOWN, IOWA -- The Ellsworth CC women's basketball team picked up their 2nd win of the week Saturday when they went on the road and walloped Marshalltown CC, 75-41.

The Panthers opened up a 16-7 advantage after the 1st quarter and added to the lead after that.  They were on top 37-19 at intermission, 56-30 after the 3rd period and the final margin was their largest of the season.

ECC's 26 made field goals were a season-high and their 9 3-pointers were just one shy of the season-best.  Marshalltown managed to connect on only 23 percent of their field goal attempts and only 2-of-28 3s.

Shamika Maria had her best game of the season for the winners, coming off the bench to pour in 17 points.  That total matched Key'Lajaha Jefferson Putman for team scoring honors.  Jefferson Putman also had 7 rebounds and 5 assists.  Andrea Aragon Garcia and Ingrid Martinez Guillen each scored 15 points for ECC.  Arleen Chanez added 8 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.

The Panthers face a stiff test in their next game when they travel to Cedar Rapids to take on No. 3 ranked Kirkwood CC next Wednesday.
