ECC Women Start Strong in New Year

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Showing little signs of rust after a 16-day layoff without a game, the Ellsworth CC women's basketball team started the New Year off in style in a 68-42 romp past the Mount Mercy JV at Dittmer Gym on Monday.

The Panthers jumped all over the visitors to compile an 18-3 after the first quarter and were on top, 36-19, at halftime in registering their first win since the 2nd game of the season.

Coach Justin Rees's Panther squad put 4 players in double figures in one of their higher scoring games of the year.  Ingrid Martinez Guillen led the way with 20 points and Key'Lajaha Jefferson Putman added 17.  Ashjahnelle Wilson chipped in 13 points and Andrea Aragon Garcia had 11.

Ellsworth will try to build on the momentum from Monday's victory when they host Iowa Lakes CC on Wednesday night.
