Ellsworth Women Defeated by Wartburg JV

WAVERLY, IOWA -- A cold 3rd quarter was a big reason why the Wartburg junior varsity got a Sunday win against the Ellsworth CC women as they beat the Panthers, 82-58.

The visiting Panthers trailed 19-15 after one quarter and 46-36 at halftime.  The hosts, though, outscored ECC, 24-7, in the 3rd period to boost the advantage to 27 points and the Panthers could only make up 3 points of the deficit in the final 10 minutes.

Ellsworth had two double-figure scorers, Ingrid Martinez Guillen with 18 points and Andrea Aragon Garcia with 11.  Key'Lajaha Jefferson Putman led the team with 6 rebounds and 3 assists.  Cailin Reimer had 3 steals.

The Panthers connected on 46.2 percent of their field goal tries, their 2nd-best percentage of the season.  But they made only 4 3s and just 6-of-12 free throws.

ECC is idle until playing at Minnesota West next Saturday.
