Ellsworth Women Knocked Off by Minnesota West

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Minnesota West broke open a close game after one quarter to pull away from Ellsworth CC over the final 30 minutes to get a women's basketball victory on Tuesday night at Dittmer Gym.  The visitors led 21-19 after the opening period, then scored 29 points in each of the next two quarters and won, 104-61.

Andrea Aragon Garcia led the ECC scoring with 21 points and she connected on 3 of the Panthers' 5 3-pointers.  Ashjahnelle Wilson added 16 points and Key'Lajaha Jefferson Putman also reached double figures with 11.  Jefferson Putman had 4 assists.  Fabiana Nieves Martinez came off the bench to tie Wilson for the rebounding lead with 5 boards and Nieves Martinez blocked a pair of shots.

The two teams struggled with turnovers -- ECC had 39 and Minnesota West 29.

The Panthers play at home twice this weekend in the Dale Howard Classic.  They will take on Western Technical College Friday and Rochester CTC on Saturday.
