Ellsworth Women Drop Home Finale

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Playing on their home court for the final time this season, the ECC women's basketball team was beaten by NIACC, 90-64, on Wednesday night.

NIACC led 27-11 after one quarter, upped the margin to 19 points by intermission and widened the advantage in the last half as they completed the season sweep over the Panthers.

The field goal shooting numbers were nearly identical -- 40.5 percent for the Trojans and 39.4 for Ellsworth -- and ECC outrebounded NIACC, 48-34.  But the Panthers had over twice as many turnovers, 23-11.

ECC had balanced scoring with three players in double figures, led by Alyssa Civitak's 14 points.  Teresa Paulsen scored 12 and Halle Miller 11.  Victoria Parra and Shamika Maria both added 8 points.  Autumn Shull pulled down 9 rebounds and blocked 3 shots.  Katie Winter and Dreasha Talley also had 3 blocks.  Both Civitak and Paulsen handed out 4 assists and Paulsen also had 4 steals.

The Panthers' final two regular season games are on the road.  They'll be at Iowa Western on Saturday and at Marshalltown next Tuesday.
