Panther Women Drop Road Game in Nebraska

NORFOLK, NEBRASKA -- A decisive third quarter allowed the Northeast (Neb.) CC women's basketball team to get away with a 60-47 homecourt win against Ellsworth CC Saturday at the Cox Activities Center.

The visitors trailed by a single point, 18-17, after one period and the two teams combined for just 10 points in the second stanza, with the Panthers down only 24-21 at the break.  But the Hawks used a 21-12 advantage that included a 10-0 run to take control after three and the Panthers were unable to get the deficit under double digits in the 4th.  ECC, although they cut down on their turnovers from the previous game, still had way too many mistakes, totaling 32 for the game.  They tried to offset that stat by winning the rebound battle, 39-30, and holding Northeast to 28 percent shooting and 19 percent from 3-point range.  ECC, though, managed to hit only one of its 12 3-point attempts.

Three Panthers combined to score 32 points.  Alyssa Civitak and Autumn Shull each had 11 and Aaliyah Chambers added 10.  Both Shull and Chambers picked up double-doubles with 10 rebounds apiece to go along with their point totals.  Shull grabbed six offensive rebounds and Chambers dished out five assists.  It was Shull's 10th game this season with 10 or more rebounds.

The Panthers face a tough task their next time out, facing nationally-ranked Kirkwood at home on Tuesday.
