Iowa Lakes Uses Big 2nd Half to Dispatch ECC Women

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- The Ellsworth women's basketball team took a one-point lead after 10 minutes of play at Dittmer Gym Saturday afternoon and trailed visiting Iowa Lakes by just 6 points at the halftime break.  But the Lakers scored 53 second-half points while holding the Panthers to 20 and posted an 85-46 win in ICCAC action.

Ellsworth was hurt by a lack of depth -- only 7 players played -- and ILCC took advantage in the first meeting of the year between the two league foes.

Teresa Paulsen's 15 points led the ECC scoring.  She added 6 rebounds.  Joining Paulsen in double-figures were Alyssa Civitak with 13 and Halle Miller with 10.  Civitak drained a trio of 3-pointers and Miller matched her point total with 10 rebounds.  Katie Winter came off the bench and blocked 3 shots.

The Panthers now face their two longest conference road trips in the coming week, playing at Southeastern CC on Wednesday and at Northeast (Neb.) CC next Saturday.  Their next home game is against Kirkwood CC on Jan. 18.
