Ellsworth Women Beaten by Riverland

AUSTIN, MINNESOTA -- Riverland Community College certainly didn't look like they were playing their first game of the season on Friday night.  The Lady Devils exploded to a 37-9 lead against visiting Ellsworth CC after one quarter, widened the gap to 63-17 by intermission and rolled to a 91-44 victory over the Panthers.

The lone bright spot for ECC was the play of Aaliyah Chambers.  Chambers, who earlier in the week was named the Player of the Week by both the ICCAC and NJCAA, tallied 31 of Ellsworth's 44 points.  It was her 4th game already this season with at least 30 points.  Thirteen of Chambers's points came from the foul line.  The Panthers made a season-low 12 field goals and connected on only 2-of-16 3-point tries.  They also had just 22 rebounds, with Hydiyah Robinson and Halle Miller tying for the team lead with 5 each.  Dreasha Talley led with 4 steals.

The Panthers have over a week to get ready for their next test, a trip to Minnesota West on Nov. 28.  They will open conference play against Iowa Western at Dittmer Gym on Dec. 1.
