Ellsworth Women Beaten by Clarke JV Despite Chambers' 42-point Night

IOWA FALLS, IOWA -- Aaliyah Chambers had her second straight outstanding scoring effort, but the freshman's 42-point outburst couldn't prevent the Ellsworth Panthers from dropping their home opener against the Clarke JV Wednesday night at Dittmer Gym.  Ellsworth was able to cut a 20-point Clarke lead in half in the 4th quarter, but the visitors used a 7-0 spurt to regain control and Clarke went on to down the Panthers, 86-70.

Chambers was coming off a 33-point effort against Rochester Community and Technical College two nights before and exceeded that point total with 14 field goals, four 3-pointers and 10-of-11 free throw shooting.  She opened and closed the ECC scoring with threes.  And Chambers' seven points in a row allowed Ellsworth to carve into the 4th-period deficit only to see the Pride run off 10 straight points.  The Panthers were outscored in all four quarters, but did put up 21 points in the final stanza.

Victaeja Leavy was the only other ECC player to reach double-figures, tallying 11 points and handing out five assists.  She made the other two 3s for ECC.  Autumn Shull paced Elllsworth on the glass with 12 boards, her 4th game in a row with 10 or more.

Ellsworth, 2-and-2 for the season, will get tested twice this weekend in the Dale Howard Classic, battling Oakton CC Friday and the Grand View JV Saturday.
