Women's Basketball Season Comes to a Close

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA -- The Ellsworth women's basketball team had to go on the road Tuesday for their first postseason test and a daunting test it was.  The Panthers faced Kirkwood, the nation's No. 3-ranked team and league regular-season champion, in the first round of the Region XI postseason tourney and ECC dropped an 80-50 contest as the Panthers 2021 campaign came to an end.

Kirkwood took a 24-9 lead after the first quarter, upped the margin to 44-22 by halftime and moved on to the finals with their 20th win.

Keara Williams led the scoring for ECC with a game-high 20 points.  Ellie Barrows and Autumn Shull each put in eight points and Shull was strong on the glass with 10 rebounds.  Victaeja Leavy scored seven points, had four assists and three steals for the Panthers who concluded their season with a 3-18 record.
